Floral Highlights at Puakea Ranch

The gorgeous Bride in these photos took the time to write us a review on Yelp.com.  It is our distinct pleasure to connect with our Brides and make their visions come to life!  Each of these special ladies are the heart behind our work.

In her words:  “My experience with Annie (owner of Bliss in Bloom) was BEYOND exceptional. When you’re looking to plan a destination wedding it becomes clear really quickly how vital it is to have someone who is super on top of it and responsive. Annie is this and so much more. Annie did all of the florals for my wedding, including bridal party florals, table arrangements, tree garland, aisle florals, cake florals and my absolutely stunning floral crown (basically everything florals related). She also provided beautiful design pieces (glass votives, rustic wooden boxes, flower vessels) which really pulled the design aesthetic of my wedding together.

The professionalism my husband and I experienced in working with Annie was top notch, during our first in person consultation during my visit (I’m originally from the Big Island) she really listened to my vision, gave lovely recommendations on florals and design aspects. She really made me feel at ease and excited about how my special day would look.  This was helpful especially where nerves are high with all of the wedding planning shenanigans.

Side note, she has a boutique style office/work space tucked away in beautiful Holualoa town that is just to die for cute. She has designed it to be such a welcoming, fun and girly place to talk florals and wedding design! Not to mention she has a few select beautiful wedding dresses in case you’re in need of one!

Getting back on track here, the floral design proposal she put together was absolutely on point. I am not exaggerating when I say this, in explaining my vision with the sorts of flowers I loved and didn’t like, her proposals were 100% on par. She was quick to take feedback and make adjustment where needed, she also really worked with our budget, which was important. She can bring in florals from the mainland (i.e. CA I believe) that are not available on island.  This was also key to me as I love peonies and a few other florals that are not accessible on the Big Island. On the day of the wedding, she was onsite right on time (our wedding venue was far up north, Puakea Ranch). She arranged all of the florals and design pieces to a tee. My bouquet was stunning, it by far exceeded my expectations and was even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. All I wanted to do was take pictures of my bouquet! By far one of my most favorite memories, it was just so pretty.

As mentioned prior, Annie also made my floral crown.  Again, absolutely beautiful (she was so creative in using rosemary and these dainty little white flowers) which made me feel like a princess. My bridesmaids bouquets were perfect, groomsman boutonnieres were perfect, and she also made a little floral crown for my flower girl which was precious. Moving onto the tree garland, another big favorite of mine that she crafted. She put together a fairly large tree garland that wrapped beautifully around our ceremony tree (you have to see pics, it was gorgeous) which fit what I had envisioned perfectly. The table flowers were flawless including all of the flowers we loved and she picked just the perfect sized succulents for each of my plate settings. I would recommend Annie/ Bliss in Bloom to any bride to be who is looking to have a wedding in Hawaii/Big Island, she made our wedding day memorable and very special with her beautiful floral designs. She is truly talented, a lovely person and produces high quality work. We can’t thank you enough Annie!”

“All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.” ~Indian Proverb

This Proverb is never more true than on a Wedding Day as the Bride and Groom say their vows in the presence of loved ones and surrounded by beauty.  The seeds that are planted will be tended and nurtured in the sunshine and throughout the storms of their marriage, producing the flowers of all of their tomorrows.

Chapter One: Elegance and Succulents

The Bride and Groom always set the tone for their Wedding Day, and this lovely couple was no exception.  They are gracious, elegant, stunning and have an intimate connection that is the stuff of which dreams are built upon.  Their special day, hosted at the exclusive KD Beach Club (Kapulehu Beach Club), was the perfect blend of these qualities.  It was our extreme pleasure to be a part of this event captured by Fletch Photography.

We are fortunate to have the opportunity to share with you a bit about this Bride and Groom.  We thank them for sharing such an authentic description of their relationship together.  In their own words:

From the Bride:
“We met at a French wine bar called Amelie in San Francisco through a mutual friend, and ran a 5k together as our first deliberate ‘meeting’ two days later.  We felt as though we knew each other already from the moment we met, like we had been together in another time, a different life.

Although we met in San Francisco, Phil moved to my home town of Naperville, IL, when I was in high school.  I moved to the Big Island six months after he came to Naperville.  We maybe should have or could have met then.  It was a missed opportunity.  As though, we were circling each other. Phil finally caught up with me in San Francisco 14 years later!

We have a mutual, passionate vulnerability with one another, by which we know the depths of each other’s emotions, history, and most importantly, our love of one another. This is one way we know our love is our lifeline and our destiny.  This is the fearlessness that makes us trusting.”

From the Groom:
“Experiencing this is the only way to understand it.  It cannot be observed from the outside.  Anything I thought I knew prior to Laura has changed through my experience with her, through becoming one with her.  It has made me realize who I am, and who I am meant to be.  It is life changing and it creates beauty in everything.  This is living in love.”

After their vows, before the Bride and Groom recessed, the Officiant (who was also the Bride’s cousin), closed the ceremony with these words from C.S. Lewis:

“But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world had only been the cover and title page: now, at last, they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read, which goes on forever, and in which every chapter is better than the one before.”
